Speedup PC


 

Have you ever wondered why your PC isn't working as fast as it used to. You would have tried everything from Defragmenting your hard disk to fixing your system's Registry and still not have a clue as to what the problem is. Check out these steps on how to change your system settings to make it faster.



Software Tips


» Make sure you keep more than 50% of your hard disk free. The more data you have on your disk the more slower it gets, because more data means the drive will take a long time to search and retrieve data. This can considerably affect your PC speed.

And also make sure you run Disk Cleanup Scandisk and Disk Defragmenter on your hard disk as often as possible.

Keep Windows and all other applications up-to date with the latest Patches and Bug fixes. Patches often provide performance improvements where as Bug fixes repair software errors which came with your software when you first purchased it.

» Reduce the number of programs which automatically load when you boot your PC. Applications take up a lot of system resources while running, and most of the programs you install change your system settings in order to make them load when your Pc boots. So to speedup your PC just remove the applications which you don't use often.

You can do this by Clicking start / Run Type msconfig in the dialog box and give Ok. This launches the System Configuration Utility.

Click on the startup tab and then unselect the programs you don't use or don't want to load on startup. Then give Ok and restart your PC.

» If you are a Windows Xp or Vista user you will notice that it has a lot of visual effects involved compared to older versions . These visual effects take up a lot of system resources which can considerably slowdown your PC. To cut down on these resource vampires follow these instructions.

Right click on the My Computer icon and go to properties, this opens your System Properties dialog box.

Click on the Advanced tab and click the settings button under the Performance heading. This opens the Performance Options dialog box.

Under the Visual Effects tab you will see Check box options with many different animations that windows uses on your desktop.

just uncheck the options which you don't want and give Ok.

By doing this you will be left with with a reasonable improvement in performance and little visual effects.


Hardware Tips

» If you want to invest in Hardware put your money into RAM. This is the main part of your hardware which can give you good improvement in your PC performance. And you can never have too much RAM.

» If you are like me storing a lot of music, videos, and other things that take up a massive amount of space, then its best you go for the Largest fastest Harddisk your money can buy.

» If you play 3D games a lot go for a large Graphics Card, because that take the load off the processor it lets you pc processor to look at the other aspects of the game giving you a better gaming experience.
